Our ingredients

To produce our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag so that it can be better processed in our dry food. With the right proportion of vegetables, fruit and herbs, Yourdog uses meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and strong color and is rich in vitamins and minerals. This tender meat has a lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories and is therefore very beneficial to health.

Vegetables

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants grown in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, algae, etc. has a tradition that goes back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Each ingredient that we add to our dog food has been carefully selected for its positive properties. The ingredients are highlighted depending on the size of the dog, the breed or the breed group. Breed-specific ailments can be alleviated by using herbs, roots, flowers and plants.

Whippet-specific vegetables, herbs and fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Whippet. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Whippet belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients were selected that have an optimal effect on the health and well-being of the Whippet.

fenugreek

Like peas, fenugreek is a plant from the legume family. The plant is also called fenugreek or "Greek hay". It originally comes from Mesopotamia and was already known in the Mediterranean region in ancient times. Nowadays fenugreek is also grown in Central Asia.

Fenugreek is rich in iron and copper. Fenugreek contains saponin and coumarins, which can help with vein problems. It also has anti-inflammatory properties (natural anti-inflammatories) and promotes bile production.

Fenugreek can be added to food to prevent arthritis, asthma and skin problems. The stomach and intestines also benefit from the positive effects of fenugreek and support healthy digestion.

fennel

Fennel is a plant in the Apiaceae family and is recognizable by its aniseed flavor. The threadlike branches of the leaves are often used as an herb and the seeds as a spice. These seeds have been known for centuries for their medicinal properties.

Like many herbs and seeds, fennel is rich in various vitamins and minerals. It contains lots of vitamins A and C as well as the minerals iron and potassium.

We can add fennel to dog food because it can promote digestion and prevent bloating in the stomach and intestines. It can contribute to a healthy cardiovascular system and have a positive effect on joint problems. Fennel is also said to freshen breath.

tomato

The tomato belongs to the nightshade family and is descended from the tomato plant, which originally comes from Mesoamerica. Small varieties were cultivated in Mesoamerica by the Aztecs and Mayans. In 1893, it was decided in America that the fruit should be considered a vegetable.

On Yourdog we use the tomato on a culinary level, here we assume that the tomato is a vegetable.

Tomatoes are rich in nutrients, low in calories and high in soluble fiber, which aids digestion. Tomatoes also contain lycopene, which gives them their red color. The redder a tomato, the more lycopene it contains. Not only does it give the tomato its red color, but it is also known as a powerful antioxidant. Research has shown that lycopene can protect against cancer and help with cardiovascular disease, among other things. In addition, tomatoes contain a lot of vitamin C and vitamin A and B complexes, which can contribute to healthy skin and an improved immune system.

The tomato is added to our dog food because it can make a positive contribution to the prevention of breed-specific complaints relating to digestion, skin, vision and cardiovascular diseases. In addition, it can have a general cleansing effect on the body.

Puppy, adult or senior?

To make the right choice between our Whippet dog foods, you can follow the guidelines below. If your Whippet is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Whippet older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Whippet senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

advice on switching

If you are switching to Yourdog from another brand of food, we recommend that you follow the steps below. As a first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to it for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old food. It is important that you let the dog get used to it again for two or three days. Then mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely on Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After that, you can feed 100% Yourdog. The food is exposed to oxygen, moisture and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage box or barrel in a dry, cool and dark place. It is best not to put the food into the tub individually, but to put it in the whole bag and close it as tightly as possible.
