Why Yourdog Afghan Hound
Rich in buffalo and poultry Specially made for Afghan Hounds Contains marigold, carrot and cranberry Promotes a healthy, shiny coat Maintains a healthy intestinal flora Free from artificial colors, flavors and fragrances Also suitable for sensitive Afghan HoundsOur ingredients
To produce our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag so that it can be better processed in our dry food. With the right proportion of vegetables, fruit and herbs, Yourdog uses meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and strong color and is rich in vitamins and minerals. This tender meat has a lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories and is therefore very beneficial to health.
poultry
At Yourdog we use duck, chicken and turkey, which together give the food a delicious taste and aroma. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle building and are rich in vitamins and minerals.
Vegetables
To provide the dog with additional valuable nutrients, super-healthy vegetables have been added to our food. Vegetables, for example, are not only nutritious, but also have other healthy properties. The raw fiber in vegetables is good for the intestines and can, among other things, promote digestion.
Fruit
We add a unique combination of fruits to Yourdog that provide the dog with all the essential natural antioxidants. For example, fruit can be good for the dog's immune system, but it can also help keep breath fresh or maintain a healthy digestive system. These natural ingredients promote the dog's health.
Herbs
The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants grown in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, algae, etc. has a tradition that goes back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Each ingredient that we add to our dog food has been carefully selected for its positive properties. The ingredients are highlighted depending on the size of the dog, the breed or the breed group. Breed-specific ailments can be alleviated by using herbs, roots, flowers and plants.
Dog-specific vegetables, herbs and fruits
We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Afghan Hound. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Afghan Hound belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients were selected that have an optimal effect on the health and well-being of the Afghan Hound.
marigold
The marigold (Calendula) is a plant that, like the goldenrod, belongs to the daisy family. The marigold is a cultivated flower that has long been used for its various medicinal properties. The original Calendula species was probably native to Asia and Eastern Europe, but this field marigold is rarely found in the wild. The marigold is also an edible plant for humans and is rich in nutrients.
There is a lot of information about the positive effects of calendula. We can add calendula to dog food because it can make a positive contribution to the prevention of breed-specific ailments related to the skin, mouth, throat, digestion, eyes and feet. It is particularly good for the restoration of the skin and mucous membranes, it has an anti-inflammatory and regenerating effect. It can also prevent cramps during the digestive process.
Marigold is mainly used as an external treatment, for example for abrasions or skin problems. However, due to its regenerative properties, it can also be used internally.
root
The carrot as we know it today, or the orange carrot, is the result of many years of cross breeding. The first white carrots originally came from Iran and were brought to the Netherlands by the Dutch East India Company in the 17th century.
Carrots are an important source of vitamins and fiber. Carrots, for example, contain retinol (vitamin A1) and beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body. This is important for the development of capillaries and the health of all cells. The fibers in carrots support the dog's digestion. In addition, carrots are low in calories and good for the coat and skin.
At Yourdog, we add carrots to dog food because they can make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific problems related to the dog's coat and skin, but also to promoting good eyesight and healthy digestion.
cranberry
The cranberry is a plant from the heather family. In the Netherlands, the plant is mainly found on the Wadden Islands and is very rare in the rest of the country. The plant originally comes from North America and is said to have arrived in the Netherlands around 1845.
Cranberries contain a unique blend of nutrients that can give a dog's health a powerful boost. The berries are rich in minerals such as potassium, which ensures a healthy fluid balance in the body. These berries are also rich in vitamins A, B and C, as well as antioxidants to support the immune system. Vitamin C makes the urine more acidic, making the environment in the bladder less attractive to bacteria. The addition of cranberries can also have a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effect. The healthy fiber in cranberries has a positive effect on digestion and ensures a longer feeling of satiety.
Cranberry is added to our dog food because it can make a positive contribution to the prevention of breed-specific complaints, including those relating to digestion, skin, joints, bones and nerve functions.

If you are switching from another brand of food to Yourdog, we recommend the following steps. As a first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to it for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old food. It is important that you let the dog get used to it again for two or three days. Then mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely on Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After that, you can give 100% Yourdog. The food is exposed to oxygen, moisture and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage box or barrel in a dry, cool and dark place. It is best not to put the food in the tub one by one, but to put it in the tub with the whole bag, closing it as well as possible.
