Maggot infestation, also called myiasis, is a real danger, especially for rabbits that live outdoors. But even rabbits that live indoors can be visited by blowflies through open windows! These blowflies are attracted to droppings that stick to the rabbit's rear end. The fly lays its eggs in the animal's droppings or on its skin, after which the maggots start to eat through the skin and can cause blood poisoning, infection or even death. Reduce the risk with this spray from Beaphar, which can simply be sprayed onto the rabbit's fur. This spray contains 0.5 mg/ml ivermectin, which kills the eggs and maggots. Please note that the adult fly is not killed! So always ensure adequate hygiene and see your vet immediately if you find maggots. The spray is effective for one month.
